E.L.F.

Recession Buster! Bam!

Check out EyesLipsFace.Com where makeup is $1.00.
No, this is not a sale, this is 24/7 $1.00 prices. A girl could go nuts over there!

Unfortunately, I cant personally review the products, having never tried them...It's funny, I've heard about E.L.F. for years, and never given it much thought, but I don't know why...I mean, whats to think about??? $1.00!

These could be great to round out your makeup collection, or to experiment with products or shades without committing a lot of money. Or buy something you're lazy about, I never buy the right brushes, I might just go over there and get a whole set!

Kiehls Makes A Helluva Lipgloss!

I'll have to thank my moms for putting me on to this one. Kiehls is a company I would think to go to for a cult lotion or hair product, I never even knew they made gloss.

Unfortunately, like most glosses it doesn't offer much in the way of color pigmentation, resulting in all the colors  looking the same when you put them on. The thing is, they FEEL much better. Creamy, lightweight, and not at all sticky, they're even moisturizing.  Plus amazing lipglass like shine. I'd def recommend trying this one when you're in the market for a new gloss.

Cargo Reverse Lip Liner

I don't wear lip liner because I dislike when the lipstick/gloss wears away and you're left with ring around the mouth. But liner can lend itself very nicely to accentuating the shape of your lips and keeping your lip color in order. This is a nice idea, but I would imagine that you could achieve something similar with a concealer. In fact this product can also be used around your eye, so it probably is just a concealer in pencil form.

Rimmel Light Beam.

A few days ago I was introduced to a young lady, and it took about 5 minutes for her to open her cosmetics bag, and introduce me to her lip gloss. I don't even remember her name (sorry, I'm bad with that stuff.) but I remember that gloss!

It was one of those new light up tube with built in mirror situations. I'd read about them for the last year or so, but I must admit seeing it in person was cooler than expected. But let's be real, who am I, f@cking inspector gadget? This is so unnecessary, but I'm a jerk so I must have one!
The one she was using was Light Beam by Rimmel. But please take note of the top picture, don't they all really look like they'll go on clear? I hate that about lip glosses!

Get it while it's HOT!!!

Did I mention to you guys, that my friends are über fabulous? Seriously, they are a group of people that are meticulous about the way they look; and rightfully so. It stuns me the amount of detail they put into applying makeup, and finding new inventions. My opinion used to be, you've seen one mascara, gosh darn it you've seen em all. This was my theory, before they made me see the error of my ways, as they would say " Alicia, there are always new releases that trumps old existing products" I suppose this makes much sense, considering the fact that there are so many competing brands out there.

Either way, they know that I am very particular about not having a lot of GUCK on my face, just enough to give me a definitive glow. They always rag on me about not wearing much eyeshadow, and to be honest, it's because I detest buying the little ones @ MAC, I never have the color that I need when I need it. I've been meaning to get a good BRAND that has different assortments of colors. Ladies and gentleman, SEPHORA has delivered with the Ultimate Blockbuster - Collector's Edition:

It is being said to be "The ultimate makeup palette for eyes, face, and lips, all you need for complete classic beauty" The Sephora Brand Collector's Edition Palette sets the gold standard and gets you set. If you think I'm kidding, take a look at what it comes equipped with:

This palette has it all:
- 71 eyeshadow shades (0.04 oz each)
- 13 cream eyeshadow shades (0.03 oz each)
- 5 blushes (0.19 oz each)
- 1 compact powder (0.19 oz)
- 60 lip glosses (0.03 oz each)
- One lip liner
- One eyeliner
- 4 brushes
- 3 sponge-tipped applicators
- A smart black case that's as classy as you are.

Guys, this product is definitely a steal, it's value is $320; however, it is being sold at an absurdly low price of $48. You cannot beat that! Even if you don't get it for yourself, if you happen to have any make up junkie friends like a few of mine,(uh, hum... Avy, Kamilah) it will make a fantastic Christmas gift.

Smooches... If anyone of you beat me to the punch in purchasing this lovely item, please give SGHI your review.

Le Metier De Beaute Follow-Up

My baby collection.

I went back to bergdorf as I said I would, and got my hands on the concealer from Le Metier De Beaute. It is every bit as great as I hoped, great color match and extremely moisturizing.

I also picked up the lipgloss in Cannes.

Even though the gloss felt very hydrating it didnt last as long as I would have hoped. However the Cannes is very nice when layered over the Marakesh lipstick I already had. It adds another look in case I want to be glossy instead of matte.
Here are the 2 colors separate:

And layered:

I think it looks like a grown up version of bubble gum pink.
All in all, I'm still pretty much in love with this brand.

LE METIER DE BEAUTE

I took a stroll through the Bergdorf Goodman cosmetics floor yesterday, and picked myself up a few new treats. I had a list of products to try, and from there I planned to settle on a few to actually purchase.
The funny thing is while walking through the floor, the counter of cosmetics company I had never heard of caught my eye, called LE METIER DE BEAUTE. A very pleasant and helpful gentleman was immediately on hand to assist me.
He took one look at me, and suggested 2 lipstick shades he thought would be beautiful on me. Impressively, they were very lovely and extremely moisturizing due to a high content of Shea butter. They were also rather long lasting.
Initially, I tried to resist, as lipstick was not on my list, but I soon relented. As I was making the purchase, the man who had helped me gave me a sample bottle of foundation from their line as well.

Here's the kicker, upon getting home and inspecting my newly acquired swag, I found the product I was most pleased with was the lipstick.

Whats more, is that I had also finally gotten around to purchasing Bobbi Browns Creamy Concealer Combo. This product has been exalted to holy grail (HG) status by many makeup aficionados, but when I applied it myself at home, I was not feeling it at all! Although it feels incredibly creamy and moisturizing to the touch, this somehow did not transfer to my face. It never felt drying, but it looked dry as hell. I have combination skin, so I'll concede that my under eye area may be more prone to dryness than some people, but I did thoroughly exfoliate and moisturize prior to applying the concealer.

So anyway, with intentions of making a return, I was placing the concealer back in the Bergdorf shopping bag, when I spied the sample bottle of foundation I received with my purchase of LE METIER DE BEAUTE lipstick. Despite how pleased I was with the lipstick, I was skeptical of the foundation. I hadn't tried foundations at the LE METIER DE BEAUTE counter, so I would fully expect this to not match my complexion by a long shot.
Guess what?
Very possibly the best foundation color match to my skin tone I have ever tried, of course I may owe this to the product knowledge of my salesperson! But it glides on like a super luxurious moisturizer, and its been lasting shine free.
Its been years since I have been in the habit of wearing foundation. I stick to concealer and setting powder, but upon returning my Bobbi Brown concealer, I will most definitely be going directly to the LE METIER DE BEAUTE counter to a see if their concealers are as good as their lipstick and foundation. Also, I didn't try it personally, but a saleswoman from Pout was chatting to me about how great the lip glosses from LE METIER DE BEAUTE are.

The reviewers on makeup blogs are also enthused about the lip glosses, particularly a color called Cannes, as well as their combo blush and bronzer, "Blonzer".

This line was exclusively sold at select Neiman Marcus locations, and was only unveiled at Bergdorf Gooodman, it's first location in NYC last week. I truly feel that I have stumbled upon quite a find with this product line, I'm so excited about the quality of their products that I would bet money that this company is destined to join the ranks of some of the biggest names in the cosmetics industry. If you're in the market for something new, I strongly urge you to consider trying this brand. Otherwise, don't blame me when I'm looking flyer than you. :)

Paint It Black

YSL Runway Paris Fall

The pictures of Ciara (below) reminded me that I had been meaning to post about the frenzy that black lipstick is causing on the fashion scene. It seems that the "gothic-light" look that has been circulating the past few years has made its way from our nails to our lips. Several makeup brands have jumped on the bandwagon by producing their own shade of black, including, of course, YSL.
However, if you are quite certain that you would never leave the house looking like that mess, may I suggest Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited in Black.

Elizabeth Lamont, assistant vice president of marketing for Shu Uemura says:
'Seven of the shades are what we call artist shades, primary colors like white, yellow, green and black, that can be mixed with any of the shades to make them lighter or darker. We feel that every color is unique, but each of these shades can further customize the shades, making them personal. Mr. Uemura is fond of saying that personalities are infinite — and wanted the possibilities of the lipstick to be, too.'

Lamont is also passionate about the black lipstick for another reason: 'It says that we are in the lipstick business," she said. "A woman might buy a pink shade, but if she sees the black and the white, she'll also know that we are serious about the lipstick business.'

Alright, so you know you want some of that serious business! The reason these artist shades are so fantastic is that you can buy that black lipstick, experiment at home, maybe even wear it out on a daring day. But if that day never comes, your money is not lost, this black is specifically designed to be layered. Apply it over your favorite lipstick shade and see what the result is, your perfect dark shade may be sitting in your makeup box right now! It just needs a little help from Shu.

Custom Candy Paint

Have you ever had an idea for the perfect shade of lip gloss, but you just can't seem to find your fantasy color in reality? Either the color is off, or they have big stripper- glitter flakes, and they can never be shiny enough, can they?

Well Prescriptives can make your gloss dreams come true! At the Prescriptives counter in Bergdorf Goodman, a salesperson will squeeze various tubes into a vat and churn that lipgloss up like butter while you wait. You may test as you go, and ask them to fine tune your gloss until you find what you're looking for, right down to the flavor. At $26.00, they're pricier than your average gloss, but worth it to get your mitts on that elusive shade. And when someone asks you where they can buy that fantastic gloss you're wearing, toss that hair, flash that smile, and say "sorry, you can't, its custom."

Ugh... You're such a snob. And I love it!

Note: This Service not available at all prescriptives counters.
Well, research that ish.
