You Tryin' To Get Your Phone Bill Paid Or What?

I'm Joking! Don't be mad at me. If you're looking for an interesting way to lose pounds, or tone up, consider Sheila Kelley's infamous S Factor classes. To be blunt, the S Factor is based on stripping techniques. It takes strength and balance to hold yourself up on that pole! lol!

The classes range from basics moves and dance routines, to pole work, and even lap dance techniques! Get fit and get sexy! Bring a friend, but try not to giggle to much, I know my friends and I can be immature enough to potentially get kicked out of the class within 20 minutes, but I'm sure you're better than that.

Sfactor.com has all the necessary info to find the class location nearest you. An intro class is $40.00, or you can sign up for a series of 8 classes for $ 480.00. Or you could just buy the DVD for $35.00 and take your chances at home.

I'll say this about exercise though, you NEED cardio to lose weight. If that is your goal, this class or one like it will not help you to achieve weight loss by itself. Hop on an elliptical for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week, eat less food, AND take a fun class like this to help tone and sculpt your physique.

It's All About Balance.

Allegra Versace looking painfully thin at Fashion Group's 25th Annual Night of Stars.

The 22 year old daughter of Donatella Versace was bequeathed 50% of the Versace fashion empire upon the death of her uncle Gianni Versace in 1997. She inherited approximately half a billion dollars on her 18Th birthday, and she has final say in the sale of Versace clothing line.
Allegra has been battling eating disorders for years.

Allegra's problem, though serious, is a rarity compared to the flip side of that coin, obesity.
Being severely overweight brings with it a host of physical, mental, and emotional problems.
The blame for this problem can be split several ways.

The American government, specifically the FDA, does have a hand in your weight issues.
The same hormones that are pumped into our livestock to make bigger chickens and cows, is being ingested by you, and making you bigger.
If you were told that it's OK to feed babies "formula" which in some cases is 50% sugars, rather than breast milk which boosts children's immune systems, know that you are priming your child for a lifetime of obesity and unhealthiness.
A young woman I know, who recently moved here from Canada(Hey Sara!) mentioned to me that there is high fructose corn syrup in American Heinz ketchup, and while they do have Heinz ketchup in Canada, it does not contain high fructose corn syrup.
I did some research, and this is true. Heinz ketchup in Canada does contain sugar (real Sugar), the American version contains lots of cheaper, easier to produce, and far more dangerous to your health high fructose corn syrup.
Sara mused that maybe, because health care is free in Canada, they really can't afford for their citizens to be so unhealthy. So it is in the best interest of the Canadian government to keep the food as healthy as possible.
Imagine how many other "harmless" foods, are in fact unnecessarily unhealthy?

Some of the blame for obesity falls on culture, things you may have heard growing up can still have a strong root in your psyche. How many times have your parents told you to lick your plate clean, because someone, somewhere is starving? We know there are far more productive ways of helping the hungry.
How many times have your friends told you that "You need meat on your bones." Allegra needs meat on her bones, it is very likely that you don't.

But there are ways to find out for sure. Because the largest share of the blame for being unhealthy is on you. This means that you also have the biggest hand in being able to do something pro-active about it. Check out this website to figure out if you are at a healthy weight for your height and age. The general standard that a doctor will give women is 5lbs for every inch they are over 5 feet, meaning a 5'5 woman should weigh around 125. Keep in mind that everyones body type is different, so don't force your weight up or down based on an arbitrary number. Use the BMI Index to make sure that you do not fall into the weight range of being over or underweight. It's a guideline to get and keep you on track.

No matter what size you are, exercise and healthy eating habits are important. Portion control is key, try putting less food on your plate. Or if you like the look of a full plate, use a salad or dessert plate instead of a dinner plate. Do your research, if the food generally available is not up to par, you may choose to start eating organic food. Most importantly always keep your body moving, one of my girlfriends and I still have cartwheel contests, and I hope to be able to pass that tradition along to our daughters.

Inspiration: “A woman whom Providence has provided with beauty of spirit and body is a truth, at the same time both open and secret, which we can understand only by love, and touch only by virtue.”

Are you ready to get Spanx-ed?

A friend of mine brought this topic to my attention yesterday. She was so excited about this new found item that she immediately told me I should do a post on it. I am very familiar with Spanx, and I suppose I mistakenly took it for granted that we were all well acquainted with them, but is seems that I was wrong in my assumption. Spanx is an awesome bodyshaper that helps to make you look a size smaller. They are made of stretch micro fiber that provide extra support for the tummy, thighs, and buttocks. You will also get rid of the panty lines with these beauties. Spanx was listed as one of Oprah's top favorite items in 2000 and it continues to be one of the necessities for celebrities and females all over the world. The pic above displays Oprah, Jessica Alba and Gweneth Paltrow; three celebrites that have publicly announced their love of this product among many others. The great thing about Spanx is that they are available in a size A- to G. You can usually check the size chart to see which size applies to you.

Here are a few of their items:

I usually purchase mine from 'Neiman Marcus Last Call' and I've never paid more than $20 for one because they are normally on sale. I think that they are regularly priced at about $30 depending on the particular item. I am pretty sure they are sold at any sizeable department store such as Bloomindales, Nordstrom etc. However, if none of these stores are convenient for you, you can check them out online at Bare Necessities

Let me know how they work out.

Wii Fit? Mii Fit!

I HATE THE GYM!
Really, it's not even the gym so much for me as the commute. The time it takes to get dressed, get to the gym, get back home, shower, and get re-dressed for your real day, ends up being longer than the time you spent in the gym itself. It irks me.
So, a while back, I bought an elliptical machine for my home, which has been helpful. Now, I think I've just found the second piece of equipment for my "home gym". Wii Fit here I come!
First off, I'm awesome at Wii. My boyfriend has me beat all his friends at bowling, I seriously kick ass. I'm also good at the boxing game, but after a fight I am physically exhausted. Once, I couldn't lift my arms for 2 days! So I know that Wii is capable of forcing you to exert real energy, and I would imagine that the help it gives you is akin to having a workout buddy, something you miss when exercising at home.
Check out the Wii Fit website here to learn more. Make exercise fun and enjoyable.
