Banned In The USA?

Kanye West stirs up controversy once again, as the cover art for his new album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" is released.

Although West has been making a fuss via twitter, it seems that in reality the cover was not so much "banned" as it is being frowned upon. West's record label Universal Music Group’s Island Def Jam, has been strongly urging him to consider using a different cover amidst concerns that family oriented retailers such as Wal-Mart will refuse to carry the album as is.

Understandable from any company that their first priority would be their bottom line. Allegedly he was told that if he refused to change the cover art, his label would ultimately stand behind him.

So in this age of digital downloads is Wal-Mart really that serious? Kanye doesn't seem to think so, he tweeted: "In all honesty ... I really don't be thinking about Wal-Mart when I make my music or album covers #Kanyeshrug!,"

Personally, I'm not in love with this cover myself. #Kamilahshrug
What am I really looking at here? An angel with the face of a beast and the tail of a dalmatian? Dude drinking a 40 while smashing some chick on a couch? Two people with truly unfortunate dental situations?
I know it's supposed to be seen as ART, and it's certainly bold and attention grabbing, but it just seems kind of empty to me.

Kim Kardashian Poses Nude For W Magazine's Annual Art Issue

Soooo...I'm only going to post this cover shot, as it is the most tame in this series of photos, and I don't want any problems with you guys. The last thing I need is for someone to complain that I poked them in the eye with a nip before they'd even had their morning coffee. But there are plenty more pics of Kim in her bucket naked glory. Just Google.

No shade, she seems like a pleasant young lady and I think she looks great. If you want to take off your clothes I say flaunt it while you got it. But wasn't it just last month that she was lamenting over her decision to do Playboy? Oh, I forgot. This is ART! Silly me.

Kanye West Performs "Power" Live on SNL

I honestly think this is one of the most amazing and creative live performances I've ever seen. The beauty and strength is in its simplicity, sometimes a laser light show is not what you need to inspire emotion in your audience. Kudos to Mr. West for sending chills down my spine.

Do you have a T.O.N.Y. ?

T.O.N.Y. is Solange's new single. I remember liking this song from since I previewed her album, the message conveyed is interesting, not far fetched, and relatable to some folks...

Here is the unveiling of the video. I can't say that I am sold on it as yet. I'm currently undecided ... the toilet scene where she is exposing her TRACKS/Braids where the weave is sewn in is getting to me, moreover, I don't understand the running part??? I'm sure it will grow on me, I definitely like the song, though. Anyway, enough chatter... let's get on with it... take a look and tell me what u think...

Greetings. Chanel Touches Down In Central Park 10/20.

A rectangular patch of sand in Central Park may be the last place you’d expect to find a gleaming “Star Trek”-style spacecraft. But an art pavilion that resembles just that will make a temporary landing there this fall.

The art pavilion will occupy Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield from Oct. 20 to Nov. 9.

Called Mobile Art, the structure itself was designed by the renowned London architect Zaha Hadid and will occupy the Rumsey Playfield, midpark at 70th Street, from Oct. 20 to Nov. 9. (It is Ms. Hadid’s first New York building, albeit temporary, and has already made stops in Hong Kong and Tokyo and is headed later for London, Moscow and Paris.)

Yet beyond its artistic mission, the pavilion is a provocative advertisement. Chanel, the fashion brand, commissioned Ms. Hadid to create the traveling structure to house works by about 15 hot contemporary artists. Each was asked to create a work that was at least in part inspired by Chanel’s classic 2.55 quilted-style chain handbag, so named because it was first issued in February 1955.

Admission to the exhibition in Central Park will be free, although visitors are advised to book timed tickets at chanel-mobileart.com.
