IMO Everyone Needs Therapy

The therapy that works best for me is typically retail therapy, but second on that list is undoubtedly vino therapy; not the glass of wine I have with my girls at dinner [although that helps too lol] but what I am speaking of is Delluva Vinotherapy @ Delluva Day Spa and Salon. Delluva, which translates to "of the grape", is a place to go when you need to escape. I remember going in the middle of winter during a snow storm after a particularly stressful day and feeling so relaxed in the comfy robe they give you, feet up on their comfy chase lounge chair, with my glass of wine, cheese & crackers and a magazine; it was so peaceful ... ahhhh - I think I need an appointment. I have only gotten facials at Delluva, but I have a friend who has gotten massages and waxed there. It is definitely a spa to check out. Here are some photos, but I have to say they don't do the place justice, in person it is very dimly lit and sexy, lol.

Here is some info from the website:

WHAT IS “Therapy from the Vine”?
“Therapy from the Vine” is the use of skin care products and treatments derived from grapes and the by-products of the wine making process.

We use grapeseeds, grapeseed extracts, husks, grapeseed oil, and vine leaf extracts that all have a high concentration of polyphenols. These polyphenol antioxidants are up to 20 times more effective than vitamin C and up to 50 times more effective than vitamin E.

These products and treatments help to fight against the age-advancing free radicals in the body and act as a therapy to fight stress and pollutants.

Delluva Day Spa and Salon uses only the best wine and vine-infused products, with a focus on TheraVINE™, a skin care line from the Cape Winelands of South Africa.

TheraVINE™ obtains its grape-derived ingredients from the South African indigenous Pinotage cultivar. TheraVINE™ also uses the grape cultivars from Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Sauvignon Blanc. The indigenous medicinal botanical essential oils are natural and organically grown in the Western Cape area.

OUR PROMISE TO OUR GUESTS:
To create indulgent, inviting surroundings where guests experience first-class service, internationally renowned treatments, and unexpected delights.

Ooo and they are having a wine tasting event soon - fun!

SPA WEEK!!!!!!

One of my favorite times of year is upon us! Spa Week is Oct. 13-19 !
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the concept, SPA WEEK is the brainchild of Cheryl Reid. The goal is to provide low-cost ($50.00 each) spa services to the public, while simultaneously driving new clientele into spas, in the hopes that they become regulars.

About SPA WEEK:
The Spa Week concept was born on a rainy Spring morning in 2004. Bringing the spa experience to the masses was my goal. The concept was simple; full service treatments, normally costing from $100 to $200 dollars, for just $50 dollars. No longer would spa be relegated to the wealthy; it was my mission to make it an affordable part of a healthy lifestyle routine. After months of research and organizing, Spa Week was officially launched in October 2004. Spa Week had a humble beginning. With a mere 25 spas participating in the New York area, www.spaweek.org went live. Never once during those long months of planning did I ever dream that the Spa Week franchise would be embraced the way it has. The response was both overwhelming and instantaneous—Spa Week was a cultural phenomenon. The very next day after the launch party, my phone started to ring off the hook, and I was flooded with e-mails from spas asking how they could become involved. From those humble roots, Spa Week has grown in just three short years to 21 cities nationwide with over 500 individual participating spas. Along the way, Spa Week has attracted the attention and participation of many corporate sponsors, including: Saab, eBay, Conair, jane iredale—The Skin Care Makeup, CEW, Pevonia Botanica Skincare, PHYTO Universe, CareCredit, Borba Skin Balance Water, Goldstar, Olivier New York, Essence of Vali, Los Angeles Magazine, Xela Aromasticks, POM Wonderful, Pure Essentials, Nicoderm, Aqua Fresh and CancerandCareers.org. Allure Magazine has been my exclusive media partner since 2005. I believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg. I have every intention of making Spa Week a truly national brand.

All of this boils down to one fantastic thing, a spa sale! Take 2 minutes of your day to sign up at SPAWEEK.ORG all they want is a name and email address. This gives you instant access to a list of participating spas in your area, and which services they have on sale. For the same $100.00+ bucks that you would ordinarily spend on a massage, you can now get a massage AND a slimming body wrap, or you may even find yourself with a new favorite facial!

But do not wait! Sign up now, and start booking appts. Enthusiasts take SPA WEEK quite seriously, and time slots do get booked fast.

Time to Hit Up the Bar

It's August and maybe you haven't had the opportunity to get away and work on your perfect summer tan. Or maybe you are just smart and are avoiding the sun's harmful rays. Whatever the reason for your pastiness here is a solution: The Brazil Bronze Glow Bar. Its located in Soho at 580 Broadway and it is a great place to get a faux tan without breaking the bank. Sally Blenkey-Tchassova is the technician at this location and she is a pro. The tan is $60 and lasts about a week. You won't see results right away so if you are getting the tan for an event then I'd suggest scheduling the appointment the day before. For those faux tan virgins out there, yes you have to take off all of your clothes... lol. Sally is wonderful at putting you at ease and she will make conversation while she sprays as if the two of you were chatting over Sunday's brunch. There are spa underwear provided if you are at all uneasy about being fully nude though. After Sally is finished with your tan you have to stand in front of a fan for 10 minutes to dry off. That night I remember Kamilah and Alicia already noticing my tan to develop and by the next day I had a natural glow. I would recommend this to anyone who wants natural looking color - this tan was not orange at all! I would have preferred more of a Eva Longoria-esque deep dark spray tan, but Sally explained that unless you are going to keep it up and go every week to maintain it, a dark tan will only end up looking splotchy and ugly once it starts to fade.
For those of you who aren't interested in the faux tan, Brazil Glow Bar offers other services that may appeal to you. They offer airbrush makeup, eyelash extensions, cellulite annihilator and seaweed body wraps that is said to take inches off of your waist line!
