How Alber Elbaz Forced Me To Buy A Sleeping Bag...Maybe.

We still have a few weeks of waiting until the Lanvin for H&M collection hits stores Nov. 23rd, but for those of you who are scratching and shimmying in anticipation, the look book is here!

OK. #Kamilahfacts: I dislike waiting in line. I dislike crowds more. I especially dislike digging through messy racks of clothing, and the people who are inevitably in your way also digging through the same messy rack, and who you have to have the "are you going to move back so I can pass or am I moving for you?" showdown. It's too intense. I mean, I'm winning the showdown and all, but still...

Point being, although these high end designer collaborations with stores at the other end of the price point spectrum are often appealing, I have never made it a point to check them out on the first day. Besides, the garments rarely live up to their full-price counterparts, neither in design nor in materials. Why would I elbow someone right in the nose over that?

But Alber Elbaz, the creative director of Lanvin and the man who resurrected the label in 2001, seeks to make me change my mind. His intention in doing the H&M collaboration is to add a luxury range to H&M, not to take Lanvin downmarket. Allegedly, this is not dress for less.

He commented to The New Yorker last year “I have a problem to do a collection that is a secondary line. I mean, you don’t want to be the stepsister. You want to be Cinderella. Show me one girl who wants to be the stepsister,” leading many to believe that he would never do a collaboration with H&M. But it seems that he will try his best to bring a true sense of Lanvin to the masses, just this once.

In an interview with WWD, Elbaz says “I’m in an industry of dreams and excitement and love and beauty. I’m not feeling that I’m a part of this mega industry of billion dollars. At Lanvin, we’re an independent company — we are very far from this.” "Ninety-five per cent of women cannot afford [Lanvin] so let them have a taste. It's like if I was living in a palace and opened some doors and said, 'Have tea with me, taste the food'."

How very Marie Antoinette of him! I'll be considering waiting outside those palace doors, I do love cake.

New Music !!!

I have been following the progression of the B.I.G. movie and it looks like it is going to be a Great one. I couldn't resist posting this new song by Jadakiss feat Faith Evans called "Letter to B.I.G.". The song is featured in the movie; as an avid lover of Jada's music I have to give a thumbs up on this track... Jada went in...

Take a listen and tell me what you think and if you are interested in seeing the movie.

Is there any New Music out there that you all can't get enough of... if so do share...

By readers's request....

It appears that many people are enamored with these great pair of heels from Balenciaga's Fall 2008 collection. I myself think that they are pretty cute. My dear friend Stacy saw them first on Rocsi (of all people) from 106 & Park and immediately took a liking to them. She loved the look of them; however, she would have preferred something in the same style but open-toed and gold. Of course, I couldn't find an opened toed version from Balenciaga... but I did come across one or two pairs that she may be able to substitute.
Guess $125 @ Lord & Taylor

Jimmy Choo $675 @ Bergdorf Goodman.

I am not sure if you are looking for a solid back or if you wanted mules. I understand that these looks aren't identical to Balenciaga but I hope they are a good substitution. If not let me know, and I'll try to look for a more suitable pair.

Paint The Smile Off Her Face!

Alba gets hit with the retouch brush.

Leaked photos which have been posted on various internet blogs show an original shot of Jessica posing for Campari, in an image which was later airbrushed.

The newlywed is seen posing in a white strapless short suit with a black belt on the limited edition calender, snapped by celebrity-photographer Mario Testino.

However in the picture which is not airbrushed, Jessica looks softer and more natural.

In the before picture, Jessica reveals a stunning hourglass figure with a few more curves around the hips and waist.

I actually think she looks more beautiful in the "before" shots. Especially her face. What say you?
Either way, they are some beautiful photos. Campari ads are always beautiful.

Michelle Obama X Narciso Rodriguez = 1st Lady Is Stylin' On You!

The fashion set has genuine cause to be excited this morning. Not only because last night's victor is Barack Obama — who the fashion industry overwhelmingly supported and whose campaign they generously helped finance — but because Michelle Obama shall go with him to the White House with truckloads of fabulous taste and clothes. Last night she wore a dress from Narciso Rodriguez's spring 2009 collection, one of the most critically acclaimed of New York Fashion Week. Michelle's style has impressed on the campaign trail with frugal finds from places like J.Crew and H&M and designer threads by designers like Narciso and Thakoon. But we don't recall seeing her jump seasons ahead. That dress hit the runway less than eight weeks ago and isn't on sales floors yet, which means special arrangements were made between Michelle and Narciso. Perhaps he lent it to her, or she asked to purchase it after he sent it to her. We have a feeling she'll continue to mix affordable pieces with designer pieces as First Lady (squeals!), but this wardrobe choice proves this woman knows fashion and we have an exciting four years of political fashion ahead of us. What will she choose for the inaugural ball? The suspense is so exciting already! And you know what else is great about this? We don't have to envy France for Carla Bruni anymore!

Greetings. Chanel Touches Down In Central Park 10/20.

A rectangular patch of sand in Central Park may be the last place you’d expect to find a gleaming “Star Trek”-style spacecraft. But an art pavilion that resembles just that will make a temporary landing there this fall.

The art pavilion will occupy Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield from Oct. 20 to Nov. 9.

Called Mobile Art, the structure itself was designed by the renowned London architect Zaha Hadid and will occupy the Rumsey Playfield, midpark at 70th Street, from Oct. 20 to Nov. 9. (It is Ms. Hadid’s first New York building, albeit temporary, and has already made stops in Hong Kong and Tokyo and is headed later for London, Moscow and Paris.)

Yet beyond its artistic mission, the pavilion is a provocative advertisement. Chanel, the fashion brand, commissioned Ms. Hadid to create the traveling structure to house works by about 15 hot contemporary artists. Each was asked to create a work that was at least in part inspired by Chanel’s classic 2.55 quilted-style chain handbag, so named because it was first issued in February 1955.

Admission to the exhibition in Central Park will be free, although visitors are advised to book timed tickets at chanel-mobileart.com.

Winning Looks of the Week!

Here are a few of the ladies which I have selected to be my inspiration for the week. These ladies looked absolutely exquisite at their respective events. They all exuded class and understated sexiness.

If I were to choose a winner amongst all the ladies I would have to go with mystery lady number 1. Does anyone know who she is? I'll give you a clue... her first name begins with a K.

Who would you guys pick?

Must have for the upcoming fall season!

I was out shopping with Kamilah the other day and she selected a pair of thigh high boots and I thought they looked great on her. I have not always been an advocate for knee high boots. They remind me of Julia Roberts on the Prowl in "Pretty Woman" and we all know what she was doing ;0. Needless to say, they haven't always been a fitting accessory for a young lady to have on hand; however, times have changed and I think I want a pair. Take a look @ some of the folks that seem to agree:

So what do you guys think? A do or a don't! Is the sterotype still too much for you to handle...

Christian Dior Fall 2008 Haute Couture

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know, fashion time is waaaay past this and on to next Spring. But come on, it's not even Fall yet! I just came across these photos from the Dior Fall show, and fell head over heels in love. I don't care if they're old, they make my inner child happy.
Toned down versions of looks like these are what we should be seeing in stores now. I can see the influences for some big Fall trends here. The elements of goth, and noir rock, the big necklaces and bigger bows. Also, check out all the booties on the models feet, and how EVERYTHING is belted. Even the makeup is on point. So, if you're still gathering the elements for your Fall look, it cant hurt to look back at its origins, right?
