By readers's request....

It appears that many people are enamored with these great pair of heels from Balenciaga's Fall 2008 collection. I myself think that they are pretty cute. My dear friend Stacy saw them first on Rocsi (of all people) from 106 & Park and immediately took a liking to them. She loved the look of them; however, she would have preferred something in the same style but open-toed and gold. Of course, I couldn't find an opened toed version from Balenciaga... but I did come across one or two pairs that she may be able to substitute.
Guess $125 @ Lord & Taylor

Jimmy Choo $675 @ Bergdorf Goodman.

I am not sure if you are looking for a solid back or if you wanted mules. I understand that these looks aren't identical to Balenciaga but I hope they are a good substitution. If not let me know, and I'll try to look for a more suitable pair.

Who The Heck Is Lady Gaga?

Christina Aguilera

Lady Gaga

Christina Aguilera

Lady Gaga

I've been hearing the name for a few months now, probably since Aug/Sep whenever the MTV awards were. Christina Aguilera did her thing on the "Genie In A Bottle 2.0" performance, but all you heard about the next day was how much of her new look she stole from Lady Gaga. Personally, I hate that look. That blunt bang on a platinum blond just rubs me the wrong way, so as far as I was concerned if she had stolen the look she should hurry up and give that shit back, ASAP!

Judging from the pictures above there may be some truth to that story. However, I'm a firm believer that there is very little new under the sun. Everything was influenced by something else, and there is nothing wrong with that. Ideally, artists would sprinkle a touch of originality and ingenuity on their work, but kids today think originality is some kind of plague or ancient torture device. Either that, or Xerox is the new original, I don't know.

Anyway, now this Lady Gaga person has hit #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 with her song "Just Dance" and I still don't know who she is! The top 5 includes Beyonce, T.I. feat Rihanna, Kanye, Britney...and this Lady Gaga is hanging with the big boys!

I'm going to listen to her song now, then we "Cawfee Tawk"

*sigh* Good news first: Under the auto-tune she sounds like she may have a very nice voice.
Bad news: I couldn't even get through the song, it was just weak. This particular tune, I'm sure will not grow on me, because I didn't like HER. She actually reminds me more of an Aubrey O'Day type...her moves and lyrics just say skeezer to me. Why would I want to go out and dance to a song about being a drunk yamp.
Sorry Lady Gaga, thumbs down.

Look who cleans up nicely...

I happen to like Lilly Allen,I think that she has potential but she drives me insane with all of her fashion choices. It's one thing to have a bad day, but to have a complete "Don't care Attitude" regarding your wardrobe is a big No No! One of my top ten rules is that you may let a few things in your life go wayward with the exception of your Appearance and your Sex Life... Those two things must stay on track... With that said, I think Lilly Allen is starting to get the memo...

How many agree that the look pictured above is a better look for her compared to the pics below, or is there just no hope?

Seriously Lilly, you can be too fab for this... Can we get it together please!

New Ish! Word C... I see you!

Hey guys,

So although I am not really feeling the DIVA video that Beyonce just did, the song is growing on me. Now more than ever with this new REMIX that Ciara did. Yep, that's right, your girl Ciara did her thing on the remix... I almost think I like it better than B's. Is she well within her rights for doing this, I mean guys do it all the time, and Beyonce did just copy Cici's "Like a Boy." Equal Opportunity Baby! Check it out and tell me who's the more Popping DIVA.

By the way, Ciara is known for her remixes, after the cut is the remix she did of Janet Jackson's Feedback. I don't know about y'all but I can't wait to go on my "Fantasy Ride"

Michael Jackson Gravely Ill.

Michael Jackson is ailing from a rare lung condition and needs to undergo a transplant, according to the author of a new biography on the King of Pop.

Author Ian Halperin said Jackson, 50, suffers from Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, a condition that can be fatal.

"He’s had it for years, but it’s gotten worse," Halperin said in an interview with In Touch magazine. "He needs a lung transplant but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. It’s the bleeding that is the most problematic part. It could kill him."

Halperin also said Jackson "can barely speak" and is having trouble seeing: "The vision in his left eye is 95 percent gone."

Jackson’s spokesman was unavailable for comment.

-Newsday

This sounds pretty bad...
As strange (eccentric) as M.J. might be, he's still the King. The man shaped pop music as it is today, you cant deny him. If you're in your 20's or 30's you probably wanted to grow up to be him at some point.
Lets all send Michael our mental well wishes, think of him while you enjoy what he's brought to your life through song.

Dont front like this isnt some of the BADDEST shit youve EVER seen!

* UPDATE: Jackson's official spokesperson has confirmed this story was a bogus attempt to publicize this "biographers" book. I'm glad M.J. is OK, but I dont appreciate my emotions being played with!

Oh snap! Yes it looks cheesy as hell, but it's the best kind of cheese. It's going to be terrible, but it has guilty pleasure potential written all over it.
Prepare to scream "Oh no that bitch didn't!" no fewer than 8 times. For weeks afterwards you'll be grumbling to yourself while washing dishes "I WISH a muh'fucka WOULD...Cause I ain't the one...Hmph...Listen*!"

DXG 506V 5.1MP Digital Camcorder & 1GB SD Card

I'm going to scoop up this palm sized digital camcorder as a holiday gift to myself.
It's super portable, you can throw it any handbag, and at about $100.00 it's super cheap too.
At that price it doesn't have the most pixels or whatever (I'm no techno-geek) but it's enough to get the job done. Plus, you may still choose to own higher quality gadgets, but maybe you don't want to take them out everywhere. Expensive technology has a tendency to be sensitive, and break easily. You can take this anywhere and not feel you have to baby the darn thing.
Record a fun night out with your friends, or take it to the theater and start a bootlegging business to make your money back!

Here's a look @ all three ladies rocking the same dress... Who owned it...

Tragedy

I was browsing Crunk + Disorderly when I came across this ancient relic. Have any of you seen this clip of Ne-Yo performing with his boy band on Apollo's Amateur Night?
Let me let you know up front, the only thing sadder and more pathetic than this video, are the lyrics to Cassie's "Official Girl". Prepare to have your ears assaulted.
But before we even get to the singing, does anyone notice something about Ne-Yo's speaking voice? I mean, I know he just says his name, but...

I like this look. It's cute and flirty without being too sexy. Holidays are family time, there is no place for skank-gear! You should have gotten that out of your system on Halloween.

What To Get Your Honey For The Holidays

Burger King has a new limited edition mens fragrance out now called FLAME.

mmmmmmm....yucky.

Spring is about to be upon us! No, I'm not early. You know once the holidays pass Spring creeps right up on you. Plus, I don't know about you, but the SGHI girls have vacay plans (more on that later) and the resort collections are looking about right.
So, if you were all about the booty this Fall/Winter you may want to keep that look going once the weather warms up, and it would be very easy to step out in style with these booty-esque heels. Try not to stomp on any hearts.

These are too damn expensive, but I like to watch.

Australia - Movie Review

Huge Moulin Rouge fan that I am, when Baz Luhrmann decided to team up with Nicole Kidman again for Australia, I thought I would have another movie to add to my favorites list.
Unfortunately, not so much.

Alicia was good enough to humor me, and sit through this long ass piece of work, and I think she would co-sign my review...
While the movie was not terrible, it was not entertaining enough to warrant it's 3 hour run time. A lot of subject matter was covered in those 3 hours, and while some of those themes were interesting, the treatment of Aborigine and "half-caste" people in Australia for example, much of it was not.
An entire 1:30 is dedicated to cattle droving! That's like full length film...about bulls...yeah...
The cattle droving certainly has a place in the film, but it's a lot to sit through waiting for something to happen.

I guess I was most disappointed because I've grown accustomed to a certain style of film from Luhrmann, his movies are majestic, love stories of a bygone era with a post-modern adrenaline shot. Australia had it's moments, but overall it just lacked that movie magic.

Here are 2 of my fave scenes from Baz Luhrmann films to make us all feel better.

Moulin Rouge - El Tango De Roxanne

William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet - "Kissing You" Scene
Remember last year when Beyonce got sued for the use of this song? Des'ree told her to leave it alone, but she just wouldn't...

5 Sexist Trends The Advertising World Just Can't Shake.

This was a big year for women: The first serious female presidential candidate, the first predominately female state senate, the first female Top Chef. Yet the advertising world has not caught up to the advances of half our population and continues to use stereotypes and violence to prey on our most vile desires. Here are the worst of them--the trends that won't die despite our cultural outrage, and personal boredom.

BONDAGE - This year Remy Martin debuted it's "things are getting interesting" campaign that features a mediocre Website and a series of billboards/magazine spreads depicting women in degrading bondage positions. You may think, "hey this one shows two women, there aren't even men involved, how can it be sexist?" But most of the ads (not available online) have men between the two women in controlling positions. And even without that, these women are obviously putting on a show for an outsider, not having a passionate lesbian love affair for themselves. These types of ads gain traction in cultural periods of female advancement--capturing the fantasy of "putting us back where we belong."

Remy Martin describes its followers as "influential, social, and multicultural urban males, ages 25 to 35." Men of this ilk and age range (read: over 16) should know better than to fall for this kind of pandering. If we switch the view from this being sexy, to this being a pathetic attempt to make an undersexed male feel powerful in the face of female accomplishment, the image loses its appeal. I would like to start a "things that are not interesting" campaign, which would include men insecure enough about themselves that they can't talk to women who aren't physically degraded. I would also include cognac.

RAPE -- The world of high fashion has been the worst offender in the violence-as-art game. Cavalli had pirates, Chanel had a wife beater, and now Dolce and Gabbana has this.

Let's get this out there now: It's not edgy, it's ridiculous. This is a gang rape, and any woman that sees those shoes instead of that message deserves those shoes. Any man who doesn't see that this is rape is probably looking at one of the hard bodies in the background and therefore not really a threat to women.

"SLUTS" -- Much like the Calvin Klein ads of the early 90s--you remember the ones that made you feel like you were watching child porn, cause you sorta were--this ad offers a young woman (with the face of a small child) posed in a sexually suggestive manner. They are offering you a virgin in looks and expression, and a slut in the tagline: "You know you're not the first." She's been fucked before--she knows what she's doing. She's been used so you can do whatever you like to her. That's the implicit message of this ad. She's young and nubile, but not prudish. She's the ultimate fantasy: a virgin who won't say no to anything.

This combination of the Madonna and the whore is ultimately a fantasy of degrading both body and mind. This girl is in no way a threat: she's young and won't say no, no one has to offer her anything, she is just there for your needs, just like a car.

GIRL ON GIRL ACTION -- Oh my god is this played out. We get it, some men find the idea of two women together appealing. MTV has reality shows devoted to it, casual and exploitative lesbianism is now a part of our culture. But aren't companies like Nikon supposed to be better than that? They bring us goofy Ashton Kutcher commercials (not that those are okay either) and sponsor the Boston Red Sox (yeah, that's pretty bad too). But they are a staple of the photography world and should be held to a higher standard than Tila Tequila. There are many meanings to the term corporate responsibility and one of them is not to fetishize female sexuality.

CUM SHOTS -- Forgive me that lewd term, but I didn't know how else to phrase it. I can't open a magazine anymore without seeing a thinly-veiled coital moment posing as an advertisement for some sort of beauty product. Jezebel tracked these for a while, rounding up the worst offenders.

The images and tag lines reinforce the idea of women sex receptacle, and therefore simply a receiver of sex, not one engaging in an equal process. This ad reads "I Want You All Over Me," which is as subtle as it is sexy. As Jezebel points out, women like orgasming too, sex is not just about male pleasure, it's a two way road and all of these ads find their own way around that truth.

The fact that these trends are so widespread is not the fault of the advertising world--these people are paid to appeal to our ids, they are often self-aware in their tendency to make the world harder for women, that's the life they've chosen. It is mainstream companies like BMW, Mitchum, Nikon, mainstream publications that host these images, and mainstream readers who use these products despite their appalling treatment of women that are truly to blame. The advertising world reacts to client demands and consumer activity--we have control over only one of those fields.

-Alex Leo For Thehuffingtonpost.com

All very true. Don't take for granted how ingrained these messages are in to people's psyche. Be aware of the imagery that surrounds you everyday, just because it's everywhere doesn't mean it's good, harmless or innocent.

Man, do I miss me some GERALD!

Hey guys,

So last night I had my ipod on shuffle, and for some reason it kept playing Gerald Levert's songs, first came "One Million Times" then "Made to love you" and I really started missing Gerald. I went on the web and started researching some of his videos and I came across a tribute that he did along with Marsha Ambrosius from the group Floetry. Do you guys remember the Smokey Robinson Tribute on BET a couple years back? Man, this rendition right here! still gives me chills. I wish they would have sold copies or something... cause Gerald and Marsha tore that song apart. Check out the performance after the cut and tell me what you think.

Watch it and Love it! Ebony Eyes Baby!

The Plumber Who Cried Wolf.

Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher alleges that while on the campaign trail, McCain made him feel "dirty"

Think Progress reports that Joe Wurzelbacher isn't a huge fan of the man who made him famous. He told conservative radio host Glenn Beck that he felt "dirty" after "being on the campaign trail and seeing some of the things that take place."

"I honestly felt even more dirty after I had been on the campaign trail and seen some things that take place. It was scary, man," Wurzelbacher said. He told Beck he asked McCain "some pretty direct questions" about the bailout, and wasn't pleased with the response. "They appalled me, absolutely. You know, I was angry. In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him.

Asked why he didn't leave McCain's campaign if he was "appalled" by the candidate, Wurzelbacher said, "Honestly, because the thought of Barack Obama as president scares me even more."

While Wurzelbacher was critical of McCain, he gushed about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "Sarah Palin is absolutely the real deal," he said.
You know, I only got to spend a short amount of time with her but, you know, it was been asked if I felt any presence when I was with John McCain or Barack Obama. You know, with Sarah Palin, I don't want to say I felt a presence but she definitely had energy and she definitely went to work for American people, and it disgusts me on how often they try to bash her just for her sincerity. It's just, you know, she really wants to work for America and I mean, I wish people would listen to her and let them, and let her work for us. You know, she wants to serve us. She's not looking for power.

-Thehuffingtonpost.com

Joe Wurzelbacher has been consistently whoring himself out to any media outlet that would listen for the past few months. Now he wants to claim that McCain made him feel "dirty"?
Joe, you reek of desperation, and I dont like the funk. 14:53 and counting! Think of something to say, Joe. Anything!
But Palin is the "real deal", riiiight...
Looking for a spot on the 2012 campaign, Joe? If Palin ever comes to close to winning the Presidency, lets go ahead and make Joe the VP, might as well go out with a bang.

Paint The Smile Off Her Face!

Alba gets hit with the retouch brush.

Leaked photos which have been posted on various internet blogs show an original shot of Jessica posing for Campari, in an image which was later airbrushed.

The newlywed is seen posing in a white strapless short suit with a black belt on the limited edition calender, snapped by celebrity-photographer Mario Testino.

However in the picture which is not airbrushed, Jessica looks softer and more natural.

In the before picture, Jessica reveals a stunning hourglass figure with a few more curves around the hips and waist.

-Daily Mail

I actually think she looks more beautiful in the "before" shots. Especially her face. What say you?
Either way, they are some beautiful photos. Campari ads are always beautiful.
