A True Prince Charming...

I was beside myself this morning when I read that Prince William proposed to his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton. The couple has been dating on and off for the last eight years.

I was even more overjoyed when I read his statement about proposing to Kate with his mother's ring. The Prince stated "It was my way of making sure my mother didn't miss out on today's excitement and the life we would spend together."

How beautiful and sweet is that, I literally DIED!

I can't wait to see this Royal wedding unfold. From the dress, to the venue, it will all be wonderful I'm sure. I hope everyone's Big moment is as special as there's seem to have been.Until then, I intend to live vicariously through Kate :)

Take a closer look at the ring...

What we've all been waiting for....

I had to post this video by Young Jeezy featuring Nas "My President is Black" in honor of the special and historical day that comes upon us on Tuesday January 20th, 2008. The inauguration of the first Black President in U.S. history. You guys know how big this is...

The Plumber Who Cried Wolf.

Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher alleges that while on the campaign trail, McCain made him feel "dirty"

Think Progress reports that Joe Wurzelbacher isn't a huge fan of the man who made him famous. He told conservative radio host Glenn Beck that he felt "dirty" after "being on the campaign trail and seeing some of the things that take place."

"I honestly felt even more dirty after I had been on the campaign trail and seen some things that take place. It was scary, man," Wurzelbacher said. He told Beck he asked McCain "some pretty direct questions" about the bailout, and wasn't pleased with the response. "They appalled me, absolutely. You know, I was angry. In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him.

Asked why he didn't leave McCain's campaign if he was "appalled" by the candidate, Wurzelbacher said, "Honestly, because the thought of Barack Obama as president scares me even more."

While Wurzelbacher was critical of McCain, he gushed about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "Sarah Palin is absolutely the real deal," he said.
You know, I only got to spend a short amount of time with her but, you know, it was been asked if I felt any presence when I was with John McCain or Barack Obama. You know, with Sarah Palin, I don't want to say I felt a presence but she definitely had energy and she definitely went to work for American people, and it disgusts me on how often they try to bash her just for her sincerity. It's just, you know, she really wants to work for America and I mean, I wish people would listen to her and let them, and let her work for us. You know, she wants to serve us. She's not looking for power.

Joe Wurzelbacher has been consistently whoring himself out to any media outlet that would listen for the past few months. Now he wants to claim that McCain made him feel "dirty"?
Joe, you reek of desperation, and I dont like the funk. 14:53 and counting! Think of something to say, Joe. Anything!
But Palin is the "real deal", riiiight...
Looking for a spot on the 2012 campaign, Joe? If Palin ever comes to close to winning the Presidency, lets go ahead and make Joe the VP, might as well go out with a bang.

Cant you just see it now? Flannel shirts and six-packs for everyone!

Ohhhhhh Snap! You Going Out Like That, Huh?

It appears in this video that President Bush's approval is in a sorrier state than polls indicate. In a video taken at the G20 summit, Bush walks across a line of world leaders without shaking or being asked to shake any of their hands. Whether the President is being rejected by the world leaders or he is rejecting them, CNN's Rick Sanchez aptly says that Bush looks like "the most unpopular kid in high school that nobody liked."

Cold! Blooded! I mean, I know he's done some evil ass shit, but I can't help but feel a little sorry for him now that he 's on his way out. Nobody will even make eye contact with him.

Barack is the new Denzel.

If the 30's are the new 20's and gray is the new black, then surely Barack is the new Denzel! Makes perfect sense to me. Come on ladies, let us put politics aside for once and discuss our new swagilicious President! He is so smooth. From his walk, to his talk, to the way he answers questions with a stern and confident "Look-" ... what can I say, he is just fine as hell - lol. The people at GQ must be in agreement since they named him "Game Changer of the Year" and put him on the cover of their "Men of the Year" issue. Senator Edward M. Kennedy had this to say about Obama on blogGQ:

As I write this, Barack Obama and John McCain have just completed their final debate, and the country is a few short days away from a historic election. Of course, I’m doing all that I can for my candidate. But whether he wins or loses, Barack Obama has ushered in a new era of American politics with a limitless vision of a better future that will endure for many years to come. Through his candidacy, Obama has provided a glimpse of a stronger, better, fairer America, where change comes from the bottom up, where we all come together to meet the great challenges of our time. He has inspired millions of new voters of all ages, races, and incomes to lend their voices for real change. For in this man, Americans can see not just the audacity but the possibility of hope for the country that is yet to be.

I had not planned to endorse anyone in the primaries. The Democratic candidates were my friends and colleagues—some for many years. I knew them well and could support any one of them enthusiastically as our party’s candidate for the White House. But I had to admit that one stood out. I had already come to know Barack as a Senate colleague who was gifted with a rare combination of talent and principle, vision, and a capacity to transcend divisions of party, ideology, and race. Once he announced his improbable campaign for the presidency, I listened as he spoke to the heart of America, and moved the young in spirit as well as age, by challenging us to think of something bigger than ourselves, something more powerful than the incremental politics of caution. I sensed a deep yearning in our people for the kind of person he is and the kind of president he will be: a fighter who cares passionately without demonizing those who differ, a leader who sees the world clearly without being cynical and shows the world the best of America, a president who will not shred the Constitution but uphold it.

"Colored" ?

The sound on my computer is fucked up at the moment, so I can't hear it myself. But there seems to be some debate over whether Lindsay Lohan said Obama was "good" or "colored" with most people hearing colored. Maybe someone can tell me.
If she did, not a great look, but I'm sure it's just ignorance. Then again, remember summer '07, when she stalked her assistant, crashed her car, held 3 guys "hostage" for the ride, and then told police "The Black kid did it."
Aww Linds, you crack me up!

The Day After The World CHANGED.

Barack Obama's Presedential Acceptance Speech.

And as hoped for by our president elect in his acceptance speech, there are McCain supporters who are willing to bridge our divide. Elizabeth Hasslebeck of The View was a die-hard McCain supporter but this morning she did the right thing.

Your Bookie May Have The Cure For Your Nov. 4th Jitters.

An interesting article on Huffingtonpost.com suggests that bookies may have the best handle on the election outcome. I know that I've been feeling like the polls I see on the news just cant be accurate, the results generally do 180's depending on whether the media outlet is conservative or liberal.
Obama is ahead in national polls, but then the Bradley Effect gets brought up and everyone shrugs their shoulders.

But while polls may be wrong, bookmakers cant afford to be, their cash is on the line. On Election day 2004, the race was still tight between Kerry and Bush according to polls, but Betfair, the worlds largest Internet gaming exchange had Bush with a 91% chance to win. They also accurately predicted the outcome of all 50 states, as did rival site Intrade.

So, if it helps you get through this final day a little easier, Betfair currently lists Barack Obama as the overwhelming favorite to win, 1-7.
You still better go vote!

The Mother Of The "Person Of Interest" Speaks.

The mother of William Balfour, the "person of interest" in the deaths of three of Jennifer Hudsons family members, called in to Nancy Grace to proclaim her sons innocence.
Unfortunately, for William Balfour his mother's tirade is not furthering his cause. She spends most of the conversation trying to paint the victims in a bad light, and her tone is so hostile that Nancy Grace has to give her a talking to.

Carrie Bradshaw for Barack Obama.

When I received the above photo via text msg Thursday night I was like WTF is this; and then ignored it and went to sleep. Little did I know that it was a picture of everyone's favorite fashionista hitting the phone lines for Barack Obama!

SGHI reader and avid Obama supporter was volunteering at Obama Head Quarters in NYC when SJP herself stopped by to help out. He had this to say of the Bradshaw experience:
"People were shocked, ladies were hyperventilating. LOL. FYI she was very down to earth and totally dressed down, very casual, she actually looked good and seemed nice."

SGHI ENDORSES BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT

SGHI ENDORSES BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT.

If you've checked in with us at SGHI regularly, then you can tell from some of our posts that we are a left leaning group when it comes to politics. The three of us made up our minds long ago regarding the candidate we would be voting for come Nov. 4th 2008, and we have avidly watched the debates and speeches in order to keep abreast of new developments and ensure that our decisions were right and well informed.
We have tried to keep our readers as informed, without swaying you to choose one candidate or the other. It is so important for each person to educate themselves on the facts and choose accordingly. But with only a week left until election day, we felt it important to state officially that all 3 members of SGHI will be voting for Barack Obama, and give you some of the reasons why we support him.

We believe that Barack Obama's plan to change the future of America is a solid one, and that he has the vision and leadership to move us as a nation in a better and stronger direction. The opportunity to vote for him is our nations greatness at our fingertips, and when the day comes we will be a part of that movement.

We stand firmly behind Obama's Blueprint for change.

We believe that everyone should have affordable health care.

We believe that everyone should be able to afford higher education. Under Obamas administration a $4000 credit for college tuition will be given for 100 hours public service. He also supports public college being free to students with a "B" average or higher.

We believe in safely ending a war which has done nothing to benefit Americans, is a drain on our weakened economy, and has claimed more lives than the incident which allegedly sparked said war in the first place.

We believe in every woman's right to choose. A life is a precious gift, but a child should be wanted and given all the love and care an able parent can provide.

We believe in protecting our world now for a healthier tomorrow. Educating Americans on recycling, reducing carbon emissions, developing alternative fuels, and renewable energy sources.

We believe that Americas image can be restored as that of a leader in the World with the right person in charge. America needs an intelligent and diplomatic leader, not a Joe Six Pack.

Barack Obama has managed to electrify a nation that has long been jaded by its government. Never in our lifetime have we seen such excitement in politics, such a fervor for knowledge from those who never believed that the leaders of their country had the peoples best interest in mind. It is an incredible and historic time we live in, one that many never got to see, and that some never thought they would.

Barack Obama is not a savior, and the President does not act autonomously. We understand that some feel the President is just a figurehead, and that nothing will change should Obama become elected, but now is your chance to find out. Let's see what one good person can do to sway us, as a nation, in the right direction. Lets find out what CHANGE is all about by electing someone different from the 43 Presidents who came before him.

We want to be a part of this moment we can tell our children about someday, and when we send those children out into the world with the promise that they can be anything they want to be, we need for that promise to finally be true.
We hope you feel the same way, and that you will be standing in line with us at the polls on Nov. 4th to welcome a new era.

Wishing you the best in Life, Liberty and The Pursuit Of Happiness

-SGHI

2 Relatives Of Jennifer Hudson Slain. 7 Yr Old Nephew Missing.

The mother and brother of the Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson were found shot to death inside her mother’s house on the South Side of Chicago on Friday afternoon, and the police were said to be looking for her 7-year-old nephew.

The police confirmed that Ms. Hudson’s mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, 57, was one of the victims, the ABC affiliate WLS reported on its Web site. A neighbor reportedly told the entertainment Web site TMZ that the other victim had been identified as Ms. Hudson’s brother, Jason S. Hudson, 29.

The police said they were searching for Ms. Hudson’s nephew, Julian King, who had been reported missing on Friday morning.

According to TMZ, the police were searching for a man identified as William Balfour, the husband of Ms. Hudson’s sister, Julia, who they said could be with the missing boy 7-year-old. Mr. Balfour reportedly listed the address of Ms. Hudson’s mother in the Englewood neighborhood as his place of residence within the last year. The Web site also reported that according to the Illinois Department of Corrections, Mr. Balfour is on parole after serving time in prison for attempted murder.

WLS reported that neighbors told the police they heard shots fired on Friday morning.

But it was not until Friday afternoon that a family member found Ms. Donerson in the living room and left the house to call the police, the television station reported. When they arrived at the house, they found Mr. Hudson in a bedroom.

The police said that there was no sign of forced entry at the house, and that the shootings were the result of a domestic dispute.

-NY Times

Our condolences go out to Jennifer Hudson and her family. Such a senseless tragedy, only compounded by the fact that the perpetrator is someone loved and trusted. We pray that little Julian King is returned home safely, and that the man who committed these atrocities is brought to justice swiftly.

Tomorrow is not promised. Love those dear to your heart in the best way you can, while you can.

Babies "For" Obama

Do politicians really still have to do this baby kissing foolishness?
I mean, I love Barack Obama, but would I really push my baby through a mob of people just for him and baby to give each other a few moments of "the side eye"? OK, I might. It would be a hella awesome picture.

Sometimes I love kids just for the raw dramatics. They really do not give an ish what you think. To see more babies for Obama Click Here
