Essie Winter Collection

This past year I've been really into nail polish colors. They're an easy and inexpensive way to stay on trend, while still being subtle, so you don't end up looking like a fashion victim.

Luckily nail polish colors are released in collections every season, just like clothing, which completely takes the guesswork out of choosing the hottest current shades. By the time I make my way through each seasons collection a new one is coming out right on its heels.

The two collections I always look out for are Essie and Opi, so I was really excited to see that Essie has revealed their Winter collection. Including Going Incognito: Deep emerald green, Luxedo: Deepest plum, Masquerade Belle: Black ruby, Silken Cord: Risque red, Hot Coco: Tawny sepia, and Smokin' Hot: Stone-cold fox gray.

Personally I am all about Smokin' Hot and Masquerade Belle right now. How about you?

Do That Ish Yourself!

I was just listening to The Ed Lover Morning Show on Power 105.1 and they were discussing the things that people are cutting back on in this recession. Most people said they were going out less, seeing fewer movies in the theater, cooking at home, driving less and doing their own nails. Now for me this is difficult because I have been getting gel nails or getting them wrapped for years now and it is because my nails are so weak. Also, when you get a regular manicure the nail polish starts to chip after a couple of days. But times are rough right now so I stopped getting my gel mani 3 weeks ago. It sucks and I don't know how long I can go like this but maybe if I get all the tools needed to keep my nails looking polished; this may not be so bad... I came across the book Rescue Your Nails by Ji Baek and I thought this is just what I need. So I will be reading this and hopefully it will be just what I need so that I can save my money.

Here is a note from the author:

"Whatever was I thinking? I’ve spilled all my secrets on giving yourself a manicure and pedicure worthy of the Rescue Beauty name at home. Learn about professional techniques, sterilizing your tools, nail shapes, colors and styles, and even how to quit biting your nails for once and for all."

Pro Gunmetal.

Gunmetal is a great shade that will add some drama to your eyes. I would tend to say it is a bit more glam than plain old black shadow, which I am not knockin'; it's just nice to change it up. This shade from MAC is the perfect mix of dark gray and shimmer; its not kiddy shimmer though. Its a sophisticated color that will make any eye color pop. Its versatile and is a makeup must have this Fall.

Zoya makes a great grey metallic nail polish color that you ladies should try. It will give you the hard metal look right on your fingertips ... I have seen gunmetal nail polish on women and it is a wonderful alternative to black nails. It is less count dracula-looking but still adds some edge to your look.

Mod About Brights

I have to say; I really like this bright nail polish trend and O.P.I. has awesome colors in their Mod About Brights Collection. As of late I have been getting tons of compliments on this new shade I am rockin from O.P.I. I typically don't buy nail polish since you can just use it at the nail salon but every now and then you fall in love with that one shade and if you go to get your nails did with your heart set on that color and you can't find it..... there's gonna be a problem! LOL ... So I went to O.P.I.'s website and they have a cool feature where you can "try on" colors. You are able to pick your skin color and then go through the different collections. It's kinda cool. The next time I get my mani pedi I am so getting this color:
